HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai yesterday tweeted the UAE will be the fastest country in the world to recover from COVID, he was speaking ahead of Gitex technology which began last week.

We’re ending the year on a high note, ahead of the UAE’s golden jubilee

“We will end 2020 with a global event and we will begin 2021 with a series of projects and major initiatives. 2021 is our fiftieth year and our golden jubilee, and it will be different from all years”

The in-person event is a highlight for the global technology industry and will feature over 1,200 exhibitors displaying future tech.

Gitex Technology Week will see the participation of 1,200 companies from 60 countries. It will host “200 of the most important technology investment companies and 350 experts, who will talk about artificial intelligence, smart cities ... and the future of education and health, and the future of remote work”, Sheikh Mohammed added.

Gitex this year is more than a gathering of the world’s tech elite or a display of flying cars and Martian robots. In the year of the coronavirus, Gitex represents the pinnacle of the UAE’s relentless fight to contain the impact of the pandemic, both in terms of health as well as economic and business continuity, as well as a glimpse into the UAE’s robust digital economy.
