Visa Extension Retraction: Timelines, Fees And All Things You Need To Know

The UAE Cabinet announced that the extension on visa validity will now be retracted on July 10.

The ICA (Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship) has released official dates for when residents can apply for renewal of visas and Emirates IDs, and the grace period. Read the first news blast here.


The ICA confirmed that they would resume their services as of today 12 July for all nationals, GCC nationals and residents who are currently in the UAE.

The following dates are how ICA will be handling the visa process: 

Residency visas and Emirates IDs expired in April 2020 – 12/07

Residency visas and Emirates IDs expired in May 2020 – 11/08

Residency visas and Emirates IDs expired in June 2020 – 10/09

Residency visas and Emirates IDs expired on July 1 until July 11, 2020 – 10/09

Residency visas and Emirates IDs expired after 11 July 2020 – Not restricted to a certain date


Administrative fees and fines will be issued to those who surpass the deadlines, there are grace periods
